We're Novo Development Company, LLC, a licensed general contractor in Coloma, Michigan. Construction, repairs, cabinet installation, and turnkey small housing across Southwest Michigan. One contractor, one number to call.
We started in 2018 because we couldn't find contractors for our own projects. One job led to another. Today we take on kitchens, doors, repairs, smaller construction, and the site work that turns a REVU unit into a building that's ready to take its first guest.
Most builders have never owned what they built.
I started my first construction company at age 18. By 25 I ran a brokerage on Chicago's South Side with more than 500 apartments under management at any given time, and owned 54 units myself. I collected the rent, took the maintenance calls, and paid for what failed.
Over the years I worked on or oversaw more than 2,000 apartments and homes. Those 54 units include 52 apartments across two buildings, since sold, and two single-family homes I still own.
I grew up on those job sites on Chicago's South Side. My dad worked on apartment buildings, and I was there with him. We owned the buildings, and we did the construction, the repairs, and the management ourselves.
That's a different education than a construction career alone. A short-term rental takes a new occupant every few nights, none of whom own the consequences of how they treat the place. It fails in a predictable order. Flooring goes first. Then cabinetry and hardware. Then plumbing fixtures. Every one of those is a place a builder can save money at handoff and hand the cost back to you a season later. Novo specs them high and installs them itself.
A cheap build costs you money in year one. By year two or three it can bleed you dry.
I moved to Michigan in 2018 and started Novo because I couldn't find contractors for my own projects. When you hire Novo, you're hiring someone who has been on your side of the deal.

Novo is the general contractor people hire: site work, foundation, utilities, set, finish, repairs, and cabinet installation. REVU MFG is the product: investment-grade tiny homes, ADUs, cottages, and workforce housing, built in our shop in Coloma.
Two companies, one owner, one chain of accountability. When something needs solving between the factory floor and the finished foundation, there is no vendor to call and no one to blame.
